Celebrating the life of

Peggy L. Haymans

Passed away on January 07, 2024

Peggy L. Haymans

Peggy Lee Wilson Haymans, born on September 24, 1950, passed away on January 7, 2024.

Peggy leaves behind her son Jonathan (Jamie) Haymans, and daughters Jennifer (Brad) Barefield and Aimee Haymans; grandchildren, Brendan and E’Lora Haymans, Brandon and Shelby Barefield, Emily Haymans (Whit Powell), Samuel and Gabrielle Santiago, Peter Beth III and Tanner (Mikki) Knight; great-grandchildren, Alaina and Mason Powell; siblings, Larry Eddie Wilson, Betty Wilson Bourbon and James Henry Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her late husband; Gerald Bland Haymans; sister, Brenda Wilson Lanier, and nephew Jason Salter.

Peggy dedicated several years to Strachan Shipping before embarking on her nursing career following her graduation from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 1992. She served with compassion and dedication until she retired from St. Joseph Hospital in 2014.

The greatest love in her life was her family. She enjoyed family gatherings which included holidays, pool parties, going to the beach, and going out to eat with family and friends. She had a love for traveling, crabbing at the river, bonfires, working in the yard, bingo, family game nights, jigsaw puzzles, dancing, and shopping. She was often found rearranging furniture, pictures, as well as the walls the pictures hung on. She spent several hours bird watching and yelling at the squirrels all while laying on her porch swing. She loved to decorate and kept a beautiful home with all the treasures she found while shopping.

There will be a visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel on Friday, January 12, 2024 followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm.

I was saddened to hear of Peggy’s passing . I have fond memories of our families hanging out together when we were young. Peggy was such a sweet and kind friend. Betty , Peggy and my sisters had some fun times together living out in Montgomery. I would see her at Kroger from time to time and enjoyed catching up. I pray God brings you comfort at this sad time.
